So you’ve built up a blog following who like what you write about and how you write. What’s missing here?

Your paycheck!

Not everyone who starts a blog is interested in making a living from blogging, or profiting at all from their site. However, if your profits are from adding value to your readers expience, then it woud make sense to do it. With that in mind, how do you monetize a blog?

If you’re not selling your own products, you ought to be monetizing almost every outbound link.

Whether it be linking to eBay, Amazon, YouTube, or even your BlogRoll, all links can all be monetized. Here a 7 different ways which you can lead people off your site to potential profit:

1. Contextual Text links – This is, for example, like if I were to recommend a book to you called ‘A Book’. I’d make sure I was linking to it’s amazon product page.

2. Contextual Image Linking – Same as above, essentially.

3. Optin forms – All marketers agree, the money’s in the list, so build that thing up! You can add value through one more channels, including email marketing, using facebook or twitter.

4. Traditional Banner Ads – Relevant banner adverts aren’t as gross as they might seem. Just laser-target them to your readers, pick the creatives carefully, and the CTRs can be high.

5. Landing Pages – Depending on where your readers are coming from, setting up different landing pages for each case means reader’s are driven to pages of further interest, and are more likely to stay on your blog.

6. Exit Pages - You could throw up a CPA offer right before they leave your site, for good measure.

7. Pop-ups/Unders/Lighbox – The Lightbox Opt-In Box is a powerful tool to increase the chances of readers becoming regulars at your site.

Those are just a couple ideas to kick-start your blog, and get it profitable quickly.

So, how do you monetize your blog? If you have any comments or creative ways that you’re monetizing your own blogs, please share them below

Seth Godin speaks a lot of sense when it comes to marketing, and whe this guy has something to say, it’s worth taking note, and thinking what the implications are on your business. To this end, when he comes out with a book, it’s even more definitely worth reading. I’ve already listened to the audiobook, and the content is new and interesting; two things a lot of marketing gurus fail to be a lot of the time.

In honor of today’s publication of my new book, Tribes, I asked the people who joined the online triiibe group to write an ebook.

And they did. It’s more than 240 pages long, and it’s free.

Download CurrentTribesCasebook.pdf

You can get it from the link above. Feel free to share it or post it or print it, but please don’t sell it.

From Seth’s Blog – On The Release of Tribes, His New Book

Here’s the thing.

Seth reasons that, marketing ISN’T good enough any more. To truly connect with your prospects in this 21st century environment, you have to actively lead a tightly knit group of followers – a tribe. I’ll let Seth go into the details himself, but please don’t hesitate t pick a copy of this, it really is cutting edge in it’s field.

Moving away from that.

It’s not very useful mor me to post stuff about marketing until you KNOW what sort of project you’d like to start online, so my next run of posts are going to be aimed at online money-making newbies. And no, I’m not gonna talk about stuff like paid surveys; I’m talkin ‘big bucks‘ here .

To your success, and I’ll see you later.
