Your paycheck!

Not everyone who starts a blog is interested in making a living from blogging, or profiting at all from their site. However, if your profits are from adding value to your readers expience, then it woud make sense to do it. With that in mind, how do you monetize a blog?

If you’re not selling your own products, you ought to be monetizing almost every outbound link.

Whether it be linking to eBay, Amazon, YouTube, or even your BlogRoll, all links can all be monetized. Here a 7 different ways which you can lead people off your site to potential profit:

1. Contextual Text links – This is, for example, like if I were to recommend a book to you called ‘A Book’. I’d make sure I was linking to it’s amazon product page.

2. Contextual Image Linking – Same as above, essentially.

3. Optin forms – All marketers agree, the money’s in the list, so build that thing up! You can add value through one more channels, including email marketing, using facebook or twitter.

4. Traditional Banner Ads – Relevant banner adverts aren’t as gross as they might seem. Just laser-target them to your readers, pick the creatives carefully, and the CTRs can be high.

5. Landing Pages – Depending on where your readers are coming from, setting up different landing pages for each case means reader’s are driven to pages of further interest, and are more likely to stay on your blog.

6. Exit Pages - You could throw up a CPA offer right before they leave your site, for good measure.

7. Pop-ups/Unders/Lighbox – The Lightbox Opt-In Box is a powerful tool to increase the chances of readers becoming regulars at your site.

Those are just a couple ideas to kick-start your blog, and get it profitable quickly.
